16 jan 2010 JAIPUR: ‘Back out or move out’, the writing is on the wall for rebels in the state Congress as party’s top leadership talks tough. In a step to curb the gross indiscipline which seems to have set into state party chief C P Joshi, empowered the District Congress Committee (DCC)to take strict actions against the rebels.
PCC, vice-president, Chandrbhan said, “The PCC president has asked the DCC to expel immediately who, despite warning to back out of the panchayat elections, are in the fray for against the candidates who have been allotted a party ticket.”
Acting on reports that some senior leaders and office bearers of the party might be involved in anti-party activities, Joshi directed the DCC to send PCC a list of all those who are working directly or indirectly against party candidates. “The instruction is clear. Do not go by the seniority, just send the reports with the facts,” says Chandrabhan asserting tthe party means business and no anti-party activity will be tolerated.
These actions will be taken in the next two days. Also, the grievance committee formed under PCC, vice president, Chandrabhan, is looking into matters concerning irregularities in ticket distribution.
Charges are that some senior MLAs and leaders used the power play to get their dear ones tickets and at places the observers showed an apathetic behavior. It is learnt that close to 10 districts, including Jaipur, Alwar, Bharatpur, Jodhpur, Kota, Jhunjunu, Baran and Sirohi have highest number complaints (30).
It is learnt that while the party allotted symbols to one candidate, another was given the ticket and names were changed using white ink. “There have been numerous complaints and I am looking into them and meeting people concerned. In a couple of days I will hand over my report to the PCC president,” he said.
Also miscommunication has led to a lot of chaos resulting in the party not being able to field its candidates in many places and have asked the election commission to provide them with the list of such places.
