No complimentary passes for ODIs

JAIPUR: Alarmed by the ever increasing number of freebees arriving for cricket matches, Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) has declared that no
complimentary passes would be issued for the forthcoming India-South Africa ODI scheduled for February 21.
"Even policemen would enter the stadium after buying a ticket. None of the officials of RCA or district officials, administrative officers or politicians would be issued complimentary passes. Even I would buy a ticket and see the match," said Union minister and president of the RCA, C P Joshi.
Joshi and secretary Sanjay Dixit attended the meeting of the organizing committee which includes home minister Shanti Dhariwal, MP Mahesh Joshi and Lalchand Kataria, sports minister Mangilal Garasia, Jaipur mayor Jyoti Khandelwal, president of the state sports council Shiv Charan Mali and others.
"We had to take this decision for the sake of public. The ticketholders were suffering because there were thousands of complimentary pass holders inside. We are prepared to even reduce the number of seats to provide more comfort to the ticketholders," said Sanjay Dixit.
"There would be tight security too. We have discussed various aspects with the security officials and have constituted a committee which includes me, IG of police B L Soni, home secretary Pradeep Sen and IPS officer Narsimha Rao who would approve the security plan.
Sources said that the RCA would buy the passes meant for the BCCI officials and then give it to them. Even senior police officers have agreed to the concept and have assured the RCA that the department would buy the tickets for the security personnel. But they would charge for their services.
