JAIPUR: After an apparent tiff with her siblings over computer games, a 15-year-girl from the city hanged herself from the ceiling of her house.
This is the fifth suicide by a teenager in the city in the past 14 days.
Garima Sharma, a Class IX student who lived in Bani Park’s Indra Colony, ended her life on Wednesday, but police learnt of it only on Thursday.
“She was a student at Sarsavati Vidya Mandir at Madhav Circle in Bani Park,” said Arvind Kumar, incharge of Bani Park police station. The school is affiliated to the Board of Secondary Education, Ajmer.
The 15-year-old girl was apparently distressed after a scuffle with her two younger siblings, a brother and a sister, over computer games. Each of them wanted to be the first to play and angered over this, the girl is believed to have taken the extreme step. She left no suicide note.
A teacher at her school told TOI that she was an average student and had attended classes on Wednesday after having been on leave for three days. She also took a test at the school on Wednesday.
Garima’s father Prithviraj Sharma, a mechanic with Rajasthan Roadways, was on duty and her mother Shakuntala was busy selling milk packets at the booth, which they have in the house compound.
