JAIPUR: A 30-year-old woman, who had been admitted to SMS Hospital following severe burn injuries, died on Monday morning.
While the police believe the woman had committed suicide by setting herself on fire, the family members of the deceased alleged that she was killed by her in-laws. Following the complaint, the police registered a case under Section 302 of IPC (murder charge).
According to the police, the deceased, Indra Devi, a resident of Sriniwas Nagar under Muralipura police station, had sustained burn injuries at her house on Saturday morning. “She was rushed to SMS Hospital where she died on Monday morning,” said a police officer.
According to the officer, a forensic inspection of the spot suggested that she had committed suicide. “The room in which she was found was locked from inside and had to be broke open. Besides, there are no evidence including fingerprints suggesting that she was murdered,” said the officer. However, during investigation, it came up that verbal fights between Indra Devi and her husband Mukesh Kumar were a regular feature in the house.
