EC seeks report from Jhalawar collector in ‘protocol’ case

JAIPUR: The state election commission has sought a report from Jhalawar district collector on the alleged reprimand by a minister during his visit there in connection with the Prashason Sheron ki Sangh campaign over not observing protocol.
The commission has taken the matter seriously and again sent a reminder to the district collector to desist from any protocol duty till the model code of conduct is in force.
The commission is also examining a statement of rural development and panchayati raj minister Bharat Singh.
It is reported that Singh’s assurance to set up a mini secretariat at the panchayat level mid-way through the election was a violation of the model code of conduct, said an official.
