17 jan 2010 JAIPUR: Two employees of a private firm, G4S, from where 3 kg of gold had been stolen in the first week of January were arrested by police of Bani
Park area on Sunday. The police claimed that the two men had stolen the gold from the firm. However, the cops are yet to recover the stolen items. On the other hand, two accused alleged that they had been in police custody for many days, but their arrest was shown in the records only on Sunday.
According to police, the accused Ram Iqbal Singh (25) and Doodhnath Singh (49) are residents of Uttar Pradesh. "They worked as custodians of the firm's stongroom," said the officer.
On January 1, G4S, dealing in gold, lodged an FIR with the Bani Park police station stating that at least 3 kg of gold biscuits were missing from the firm's strongroom. The firm's staff was pressed into service to hunt for the missing gold but they lodged an FIR with the police on January 5.
The police said, according to G4S staff, the firm was an MNC with its head office based in New Delhi. According to the police, the company got a consignment of 200 kg of gold from Delhi on December 18, 2009. "The staff in Jaipur, including the guards was under scrutiny.
"We have evidence that Ram Iqbal and Doodhnath were involved in the theft. We are interrogating them to recover the stolen gold," said the officer.
